2016 WILIER CENTO1 SR DURA-ACE BIKE
Product Description
GENERAL INFORMATION
Wilier’s Cento1 SR is the all-rounder at the top of the Wilier road bike lineup. It’s designed to work as a climber, an aero road bike, an endurance road bike. The key for Wilier is balancing out all the characteristics. They shaped the carbon well to keep the weight down and improve aerodynamics. They use Special Elastic Integrated film for comfort, as well as employing a geometry that has been proven at stage racing. But the biggest innovation might be the simplest of all. The Cento1 SR has moved to an adjustable seatpost rather than the limited-adjustability of a seat mast. It’s confidence-inspiring advance, and it costs virtually nothing, as the frame is still at 990g for a size Medium.
It’s a custom-molded Ritchey seatpost that utilizes an aero Kamm tail shape. It’s 350mm long, has 20mm of setback, and weighs 220g. It’s standard with the frame. There’s an accessory post with zero setback if that’s what you need, but few should need it. The post is big enough to hide an internal battery if you the electronic shifting route, but there are also external battery mounts at the bottom of the downtube.
The post is aero along with the corresponding seat tube, but the aero shaping really begins with the bike’s leading edges, that of the fork and head tube. The fork has elongated blades and are drawn at the top by a notch at the bottom of the head tube, which itself is shaped for aerodynamics. The head and down tubes feature aero shaping, while the seat tube and seat stays are slimmed for vibration damping.
As with their other top-shelf offerings, Wilier employs their latest design features to make sure the frame functions like nothing else. Internal cable routing accepts both electronic and mechanical shifting, with a removable plate atop the downtube controlling the routing. The rear derailleur cable exits at the end of the right chainstay for smooth routing, excellent aerodynamics, and a strong and replaceable 3D derailleur hanger. In terms of power transfer, the asymmetric chainstays brace the frame from the lateral stress that pedaling causes.
The frame comes with a headset for the 1 1/8” to 1 ¼” tapered steerer, seat post, clamp, and bearings for the BB386EVO bottom bracket shell. The bearings are for 24mm spindle cranks, which can be adapted to work with SRAM and Campagnolo cranks, while the bearings will need to be swapped if you choose to install a BB386EVO crank. The fork and stays are spaced to accept tires up to 25mm wide.
The Wilier Cento1 SR is the bike that allows you to have something ready for climbing, attacking on the flats, and riding all day.
