If you’re familiar with Argon 18’s popular time trial and triathlon bikes, this Electron Pro frameset may have a familiar look. It’s built from the same mold as the E-114 TT bike, so it shares the distinctive aero tube shapes including the oversized and angular rear triangle sections.

But while the tube shaping is inherited, the carbon fiber material and layup of the Electron Pro are unique, custom built for the specific needs of racing on the velodrome. The 7051 HM carbon frame and EL99 carbon fork are engineered to be ultra-stiff and agile—emphasizing acceleration, power transfer and razor-sharp handling. There are also a few key geometry adjustments optimized for track racing.

First, the bottom bracket has a 55mm drop that lowers the center of gravity and increases stability—an adjustment you can feel on the steep banks of the velodrome. And the 390mm long chainstays help give the frame that acceleration and “snap” that can be the difference between winning and missing the podium.

It should be noted that the Electron Pro is designed to be a do-it-all track machine—ready to be set up for sprint or distance events. So whatever your specialty—match sprint, Madison, points race, pursuit, or a mix of everything—you can dial it in for your riding style.

Speaking of dialing it in, the frameset keeps in step with Argon 18’s usual approach to maximizing adjustability and fit options. It uses a version of the 3D Headtube system, which replaces conventional spacers with a structural mechanism that allows you to vertically adjust the handlebar height without compromising front-end stiffness.

This 3D System essentially gives you three different options for head tube length in every frame size. And Argon 18’s tests show that raising the bar 15mm with its 3D system preserves 5% more stiffness than conventional spacer setups, and raising it 25mm preserves 11% more stiffness.

The Electron Pro frameset comes as an integrated unit including a 1550-gram frame (size medium), plus a one-piece carbon fiber fork (550 grams, cut to fit size medium frame), and a reversible 275-gram carbon fiber seatpost with a choice of either 76-degree or 78-degree effective seat tube angle. The kit also includes an FSA Orbit IS-2 headset, alloy rear dropout with replaceable stainless steel inserts, and a stainless steel integrated chain tensioner.
