Product Description

Orbea  updates the Orca OME platform with an eye on both greater performance and greater comfort. The OME, Orbea Monocoque Evolution, frame has been updated, with design cues taken straight from the Orca OMP frame, with a difference in more lower-modulus fibers, and simplified construction. The result is a high performing ride, with a focus on value and simplicity, and getting on the road as quickly as possible with more left in the bank for gear.

The frame design works in numerous ways. The fork has blades that are shaped to be both aerodynamic and torsionally stiff. The steerer is a dramatically tapered 1 1/8” to 1 ½” to keep weight down but increase stiffness. The top tube has been flattened in the vertical plane for road compliance and power rigidity. The downtube is smaller and rounder than what you’ll find on other Orcas to keep the ride comfortable. The semi-compact frame and round 27.2mm seatpost help smooth out the bumps and vibrations coming from the road.

Owing to the goal to keep the bike simple, the derailleur cable runs are external. The internal routing of the rear brake cable is a nice flourish, and easy to perform at home. the external seat collar is easy for everyone. A threaded bottom bracket is easier to assemble, easier to service.

Geometry has less reach and more stack with greater bottom bracket drop and longer wheelbase for greater high-speed stability and less thought given to keeping the bike in a straight line. The resulting position is good for those lacking the experience and flexibility to stay in the drops when there’s a big drop from the saddle to the bars. It is also one where you can almost fall asleep at the bars and still easily ride a straight line.

Keeping in mind the rider who is looking at the Orca OME, Orbea specs the bike with wide-range compact gearing, the better to tackle all terrain at a high cadence. They also install ergonomic compact bars—more hand positions, longer riding comfort. The final touch is specifying 25mm wide tires as standard. These tires offer a balance between rolling resistance and comfort.

the Orbea Orca OME is designed for that first-time road rider who is looking for high performance in a value package.
