Product Description

The Cento1 was a huge success for Wilier. It took oversize carbon-fiber frames in another direction, one that married comfort to efficiency. Because of this reputation, Wilier trod carefully when updating it. The Cento1SR Frameset starts with the ride of the original Cento1 and brings aerodynamic tube shapes without going so far as becoming a full aero bike. The result is a workhorse racer that is the choice of the Wilier-sponsored UHC Professional Cycling Team.

The bike is light and aero without being wholly dedicated to either. It's easy to build this up into a sub-sixteen pound bike, and sub-fifteen, if you swap in light wheels. The light comes from heavy use of 60-ton carbon-fiber cloth. It also helps that the rear triangle has been designed for efficient power transfer at the chain stays and comfort at the seat stays. You'll find the right chain stay is shaped to better resist pedaling torque while the left is designed to respond to the road. They've given riding efficiency a focus with the Cento1SR, and the oversized BB386EVO bottom bracket standard plays in to making sure none of your pedaling power is wasted. The tapered 1 1/8" to 1 1/4" steerer gives you easy stem selection on the top with lateral rigidity at the bottom.

Once you're at the fork, you can see the aero features. Above the fork is an aero head tube that flows into the down and top tubes. The fork legs are in the middle of the aero vs. compliance balance. You get some aero benefit, but the road is also dealt with well. The fork crown is shaped to integrate with the down tube and the down tube itself has been shaped with aero efficiency in mind.

The bike comes with a seat mast. It's certainly a gram-saver, but the Ritchey mast-topper is quite adjustable, with 20mm of vertical to fine-tune your ride if you switch saddles, pedals, or shoes.

The ride all told is indeed something special. It feels lively without needing too much attention, and the stability is such that it's easy to pilot all day.

One of the things Wilier did when updating the Cento1 to the SR was run cables internally. Their design is both easy to work with and results in great shifting, be it mechanical or electronic. They have designed an intake plate that sits at the top of the down tube. It can be fit to work as cable stops with in-line adjusters. There is another plate underneath the down tube by the bottom bracket. It is designed to better route mechanical cables, but can also be used to route electronic wiring. There's also a battery mount just above this point. The rear cable, be it electronic or mechanical exits through at 3D dropout derailleur hanger which is at the end of the chain stay. The dropout can work as an exit port or cable stop, and the advantage is both that it's stronger than a conventional derailleur hanger and helps better route the cable for easier shifting.

The Wilier Cento1SR is the one tool, all condition road racing bike.
