Product Description

The Orbea Orca M-Team Bike is their top-of-the-line race frameset mated to Shimano Ultegra 6800 components and Mavic wheels. It’s the bike that screams self-sponsored to the hardcore racer.

Weight savings and performance are more about the frame than the componentry. Here, the frame is the same as you’ll find under racers capable of winning classics and stages of Grand Tours, but with a build they probably get on their training bikes, or would get if they had to pay out-of-pocket. And the thing is light, 150g lighter than the previous iteration of Orca. Even with that impressive savings, the bike is stiffer by 24% and more comfortable. This comes about due to a higher level of analysis on the stresses a frame is put under. By moving materials around, and removing excess, they were able to pull of these feats. The seat tube is a narrower diameter as are the seat stays. This improves comfort. The tapered steerer, 1 1/8” to 1 ½” and the aero head tube it sits in, likewise increase lateral stiffness while dropping weight. The aero fork legs and down tube help with efficiency both for the forces they resist as well as smoothly slicing the air. Stiffness at the bottom bracket was increased by using a wide BB86 bottom bracket shell and the way they can set the chain stays and manipulate the bottom bracket shape.

All of that is to write they figured out a way to balance the needs of precision steering, efficient pedaling, and back-saving comfort into a package that handles all terrain well with the agility you’d expect from a racer and stability that will impress you.

Wheels, the workhorse Mavic Ksyrium SLR combine low spoke count with light weight (1355g for the set), aero spokes, and high strength. These wheels can be ridden hard everyday and raced on the weekends. They come shod in Yksion Pro Griplink front and Powerlink rear tires, each tire designed for he needs of the position on the bike. They’re 23mm race tires that roll well and have decent puncture resistance.

Shimano Ultegra 6800 componentry is found everywhere it can be. The new dual-pivot brakes that offer a great balance of power and modulation. The STI levers which are more ergonomic than anything Shimano has produced, and have faster, more precise shifting action than ever before. The front derailleur has better action thanks to the longer lever arm, and the redesigned geometry of the rear derailleur makes shifting feel lighter. The crank sports compact 50/34 rings, though if you want to run semi-compact (52/36) or pro gears (53/39), you can set that up as well. The cassette is a wide-range 11-28 eleven-speed, appropriate for a bike that excels at climbing.

FSA brings the cockpit pieces. The carbon compact handlebars are fixed to a super-stiff carbon-wrapped aluminum stem. The seat post is also carbon. FSA makes light stuff strong, and with many years experience fabricating light components, they know how far to take light weight without going too far.

The Orbea Orca M-Team Bike provides tons of performance while still showing plenty of smarts.
